The body of a young woman was found on January 8th, 1990 in Valdosta, Georgia. The body was identified as 23 year old Karen La Trenda Powell. Police ruled the death as a homicide. Karen was a talented, gifted young woman. She had a beautiful voice and was a gifted artist. She often drew beautiful pictures for her family and friends. She sang just because it gave her joy. When her beautiful voice was stilled, it left a deep, painful void in the lives of her young children (the youngest only 5 months old), family, and friends. This case remains unsolved. Please help this family find closure.

She seems to have been a beautiful woman with many aspirations. I wish you all the best in any leads in her investigation. God bless.

Gwen As I spend many nights awake since jan. 31,1977 I encourage you to never give up. As this was the last night my mother lived. She was stabbed and beat to death. The person who did this to our madear has never been found or confessed. After years of looking we have let God heal the pain and bitterness but not forgotten. One day we will know what happened to our lovely mom even if it is at the judgement. So stay at peace and know until you walk in these moccasins you can not explain the day to day survival needs. God bless your entire family and know that it will be solved

I knew Karen and Her sister Lisa. We were childhood friends. I loved her like a sister. Over the years I have also thought about her and the good times we use to have together. I truly miss seeing her smile. I hope and pray that someone oneday will come forward and give the Powell family the closure that they desire. May God continue to Bless and keep you.
For some reason, the memories that my dear sister and I shared together have led me to this blog my mom created. I guess it could be because we are getting close to the time of year that it happened. I refused to believe that there is no way to for justice to be served on our behalf. Karen was my only sibling, and I miss her very much. Please....give help give my family the closure we deserve. I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHY SHE HAD TO DIE. I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHY YOU CHOSE TO END HER LIFE.
